FAQs

Selecting the right caterer is an important decision, one that ultimately reflects your good taste and judgment. We want you to be informed, ask us anything.

Are you able to accommodate special dietary needs?
In a word, yes. We have an extensive menu and are ready to accommodate any taste, restriction, or special need. Our Custom Catering Experience starts with customizing your menu. Making your food experience from the Lazy Gourmet perfect and memorable is our goal.

Do I need to get any insurance to cover me in case of an unfortunate incident?
The Lazy Gourmet carries $5,000,000 in liability insurance and all our staff is covered by Workers Compensation. We encourage you, from a liability standpoint, to ascertain that all your suppliers are licensed and covered by a minimum of the above.

Do I need to rent anything? Do you take care of rentals?
Absolutely, we prefer to take care of the rentals. First, it is part of a stress-free experience and for your convenience. You have one point of contact, and, you do not have to worry about forgetting anything, worry about adjustments, or, coordinating deliveries and returns. Secondly, with 28 years of catering experience, we know what will be required for dishes, linens, tables, chairs, contingency plans for indoor and outdoor options, etc. Our fee is twenty-five percent of the cost of the rentals.

Do you look after other services, like flowers and finding a band?
We will customize any service that you require, including flowers, music, balloons to crystal vases, limousine service, valet parking, entertainment, dance floors, ice sculptures, tents, and anything else you can throw our way. Just ask!

I am not sure how many people will be attending, how do you know how much to order?
One of our event planners will help you with the proper portioning. In order to give you the maximum flexibility, we only require a guarantee on numbers 72 hours prior to functions. After that time, we will do our best to accommodate increases. However, we are not able to accommodate decreases in numbers.

If something unforeseen happens and I have to cancel, how much notice do you need?
The client may cancel the party up to 72 hours prior for a ninety percent refund of the deposit. After that time, the food deposit is not refundable.

I will be booking my event months in advance, are your prices guaranteed?
The price quoted on any event will always be honoured. Prices are subject to change without notice.

What is the cost for hiring staff? How many do I need?
Your event planner has experience in the area of staffing and making sure you have the right amount of people to make your event successful. We will make sure you are taken care of. We believe in consistency and you will not have to deal with multiple changes in staffing during your event, we hire staff that will take care of your party from beginning to end. Our experienced staff are meticulously groomed and adorned all in black - trousers, shirt and tie, with a waiter’s apron. Our chefs' are designated by their crisp white chef’s jacket.

The staff is paid from the time they gather your items at The Lazy Gourmet kitchen, until the time they have cleaned your site and returned company items back to The Lazy Gourmet.

Do I tip the Staff?
That is entirely up to you. Many of our clients find the Lazy Gourmet staff to exceed their expectations and do offer them a tip.
There is a standard fifteen percent service charge applied to the entire invoice cost at any function where we supply the staff.

Do I have to have catering staff or will you deliver food without staff?
Most definitely, we will gladly deliver to the location of your choice. Applicable delivery charges will apply according to distance traveled.

Can I pick up an order?
Yes. Our cakes and desserts are a must have item for most gatherings and celebrations. Casseroles, pasta and dinner selections make your life much easier, and our clients rave about our salads. Please note that there are minimum orders on certain food items and 24 hour minimum notice is required for all orders. Times for pick- up are between 8:30am and 5:30pm M-F. Pick up times for Saturday orders should be verified.

Is the Lazy Gourmet Kosher?
The Lazy Gourmet can provide food that is kosher-by-ingredient, although our kitchen is not a kosher kitchen. If you require food that is kosher, we will work, and do on a regular basis, with the synagogue of your choice to prepare your Simcha. Our staff is said to be one of the most knowledgeable in the city at kosher entertaining, as they identify with the practices.

What are your terms of payment? Is a deposit required?
We require a seventy-five percent deposit upon signing of the contract, two weeks prior to your event.

The balance is due in seven days.
You may pay by Mastercard or Visa up to $5000.00. If so, we require a specimen signature to be kept on file.
